Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using AmieDivorce, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use our service. These Terms apply to all users, including beta program participants.

About Our Service

AmieDivorce is a document preparation service operated by AmieDivorce LLC. We provide technology — including an AI assistant accessible via iMessage and WhatsApp — to help you prepare court forms for uncontested divorces in California.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: We Are Not Lawyers

AmieDivorce is NOT a law firm. We do NOT provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal services. We cannot recommend whether you should pursue a divorce or which legal options are best for your situation. If you need legal advice, please consult with a licensed attorney.

No Attorney-Client Relationship

Using AmieDivorce does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and AmieDivorce LLC or any affiliated parties. Communications with our AI assistant (Amie) or support team are not protected by attorney-client privilege.

Your Responsibilities

When using AmieDivorce, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information
  • Review all generated documents carefully before filing
  • Comply with all applicable laws and court rules
  • Not use the service for contested divorces or complex legal situations
  • Not use the service if you have safety concerns, domestic violence issues, or restraining orders
  • Understand that you are responsible for filing documents with the court

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of information you provide and the legal consequences of filing divorce documents.

Eligibility

AmieDivorce is designed for:

  • Uncontested divorces in California
  • Cases where both parties agree on major issues
  • Simple divorces without minor children (in current version)
  • Cases without complex assets, business ownership, or high-debt disputes
  • Cases without safety concerns or restraining orders

If your case does not meet these criteria, we strongly recommend consulting with an attorney.

What We Do vs. What Lawyers Do

What AmieDivorce Does:

  • Fills out forms based on the information you provide via text or web
  • Provides document preparation technology to simplify the paperwork
  • Ensures forms are current and properly formatted
  • Offers step-by-step guidance for the filing process

What AmieDivorce Does NOT Do:

  • Give legal advice or recommend legal strategies
  • Represent you in court or appear on your behalf
  • Make legal decisions for your case
  • Practice law — we are a technology service, not attorneys

Simple Explanation: You provide the information (your names, dates, addresses, etc.), and we fill out the court forms accurately. That's why we can charge just $49 instead of $5,000–20,000+ for attorney services.

This is similar to using TurboTax for taxes — the software helps you prepare documents, but you're responsible for the information you provide.

Pricing and Refund Policy

Current Price: $49 (regularly $199) for complete divorce document preparation.

100% Money-Back Guarantee

If your documents are rejected by the court due to errors in our preparation, we will provide a full refund. This guarantee does NOT cover:

  • Rejections due to incomplete or inaccurate information you provided
  • Rejections due to your failure to meet eligibility requirements
  • Court filing fees (paid directly to the court)
  • Changes in your circumstances after documents were prepared

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AMIEDIVORCE LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:

  • Your use or inability to use the service
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers
  • Any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the service
  • Any bugs, viruses, or other harmful code
  • Any errors or omissions in content
  • Court rejection of documents for any reason

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AmieDivorce LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of California.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease.
