What Amie is

Amie is an AI-powered document preparation and education service for California divorces. Amie helps you fill out California court forms and explains the divorce process. Amie is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

No attorney-client relationship

Using Amie does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and us. Communications with Amie are not protected by attorney-client privilege. If you need legal advice or representation, consult a licensed California attorney — and Amie can introduce you to one.

Your responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide. We prepare forms based on what you tell us.
  • You are responsible for filing the forms with the court and serving your spouse.
  • You are responsible for paying the court filing fee directly to your county (or applying for a waiver).

Refunds

Court Acceptance Guarantee: if your forms are rejected by the court because of a preparation error on our end, we refund what you paid us. We don't refund the court filing fee — we never collected that. We don't refund if you change your mind about getting divorced or if your spouse won't cooperate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding any claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages. For legal outcomes — court rulings, custody decisions, support amounts — those are between you, your spouse, and the court.

Governing law

These terms are governed by California law. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
